Top Station is around 32 kilometres from Munnar, on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu state line. It is the highest peak in Munnar at 6276 feet, with a panoramic view of the spectacular Western Ghats and the valley of Tamil Nadu's Theni District. Top Station is a great example of natural beauty, with its low-lying clouds and lush vegetation. Top Station was named from the fact that it was the uppermost railway station in the Kundala Valley. It was traditionally recognised as a transhipment hub for the delivery of tea produced in Munnar to Tamil Nadu. Ropeway lines can still be found in ruins. Top Station affords a glimpse of Neelarkunji, one of nature's most unique sightings and stunning wonders, once every 12 years.
