Fruit Orchards of Kanthalloor
Kanthaloor is a village in Kerala that is located on the eastern edge of the Western Ghats, close to Marayur. It is also known for having a wide array of crops that are not found in other regions of Kerala, including tropical crops. Its mild temperature allows for the natural farming of fruits such as Apple, Orange, Strawberry, Blackberry, Plums, Gooseberry, Egg fruits, Peach, Sugarcane, and Passion Fruits at a height of 5000 feet above sea level. Apple varieties such as Royal Delicious, Gyanny Smith, Gyanny Gold, and occasionally green apples grow naturally here and produce a large number of fruits. Tourists are enticed to visit the orchards, where they can wander around the ripening fruits, pluck them, and purchase fresh fruits.
Sugarcane Fields of Marayoor
Marayoor is a town in Kerala's Idukki district, 42 kilometres north of Munnar on the Munnar-Udumbalpetta highway. Apart from its natural sandal trees and several attractive sites, Marayoor is well known for its extensive sugarcane production, which is the main crop in both Marayoor and Kanthalloor. Sugarcane is grown on more than 2500 acres of land in this area. The sugar cane has a distinct geographical identity due to its unique geographical location in Marayoor, which is nestled among the woods of the Western Ghats. In addition, the local people's age-old specific skill in creating jiggery on the farm makes it a one-of-a-kind product.
